This Privacy Policy explains how HookLova (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit hooklova.com or buy from us. HookLova is responsible for your personal information. Contact: [email protected], 25 E 40th St, Paterson, NJ 07514, USA.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Order details: name, email, phone number, billing and shipping address, the products and options you choose, order notes.
- Account details: if you create an account – email, password (stored encrypted) and saved addresses.
- Messages: what you send through our contact form or by email, including any photos (for example of a damaged item).
- Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe.
- Reviews you choose to publish.
Payment information
Payments are processed by our payment providers (such as Stripe and PayPal). They receive your card or account details directly; we never see or store your full card number. We receive limited information such as the payment status, the last digits of the card and fraud-check results.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our servers record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages visited and the date and time of your visit. We also use cookies (see section 5).
Information from others
Shipping carriers tell us about delivery status, and payment providers tell us whether a payment succeeded.
2. How we use your information
- to make, ship and deliver your order, and to send order and shipping updates (contract performance);
- to answer your questions and handle damaged-item claims, cancellations and refunds;
- to send our newsletter if you subscribed – you can unsubscribe at any time (consent);
- to prevent fraud, keep the Site secure and enforce our Terms (legitimate interests);
- to keep records required by tax, accounting and other laws (legal obligation);
- to understand how the Site is used and improve it (legitimate interests).
3. How we share your information
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the store, and only as much as they need:
- Our crochet studio and fulfilment partner in Vietnam – your name, shipping address, phone number and order details, so your order can be made and shipped;
- shipping carriers and customs brokers – delivery details and customs information;
- payment providers – to process payments and prevent fraud;
- hosting, email and IT providers – to run the Site and send emails;
- authorities or advisers – when required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a sale or reorganisation of our business.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural (targeted) advertising. If we start using analytics or advertising tools, we will update this policy before doing so and, where required, ask for your consent.
4. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our production and fulfilment take place in Vietnam. Your information may therefore be processed in the United States, Vietnam and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws from your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
5. Cookies
We currently use only cookies that are necessary for the store to work:
- WooCommerce cart and session cookies (e.g.
woocommerce_cart_hash,woocommerce_items_in_cart,wp_woocommerce_session_*) – remember what is in your cart; - WordPress login cookies (
wordpress_logged_in_*) – keep you signed in to your account; - payment provider cookies – set during checkout for security and fraud prevention.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout will not work without the necessary ones. We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information.
6. How long we keep information
- order and payment records – as long as required by tax and accounting law;
- account information – until you delete your account or ask us to;
- messages and claims – as long as needed to resolve your request and handle any follow-up;
- newsletter email – until you unsubscribe.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- opt out of marketing emails, and of any sale, sharing or targeted advertising (we do not do these);
- withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent;
- appeal our decision on your request, and complain to your local data-protection authority.
These rights apply, among others, to residents of California, New Jersey and other U.S. states with consumer privacy laws, and to people in the EU, UK and similar jurisdictions. To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity, and we will reply within the time required by law. You may use an authorised agent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
8. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
The Site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), and we limit access to personal information to people and providers who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
